Subject: National Anti-Racism Strategy consultation - Wagga Wagga [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Dear colleague,

I would like to invite you to attend a consultation in Wagga Wagga as part of the development of the National Anti-Racism Strategy.

The aim of the Strategy is to promote a clear understanding in the Australian community of what racism is and how it can be prevented and reduced. The Australian Government committed to developing a National Anti-Racism Strategy as part of Australia’s multicultural policy, The People of Australia. It is anticipated that the Strategy will be launched in July 2012 and implemented between 2012 and 2015.

As the Race Discrimination Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission, I am leading the development of the Strategy. I am very keen to hear how racism affects communities around Australia, and what we should be doing about it.

The consultation will be held on Friday 27 April, 2pm – 4pm at the Seniors Community Centre, Tarcutta Street, Wagga Wagga.

There is no cost to attend the consultation but we ask that you register as spaces are limited. You can register by emailing antiracismsecretariat@humanrights.gov.au or phoning (02) 9284 9847 or 1800 620 241 (TTY). Please advise when registering if you have any accessibility requirements or if you require an interpreter.

I would appreciate your assistance in forwarding this information to your colleagues and networks.
