Wafrica Intercultural Social Soccer Oct 2017

The community did it again! The young, the not so young and the young at heart came in huge numbers and from diverse backgrounds to celebrate, connect with wider community, share the journey, to have fun playing a friendly soccer match and other social games.  Thank you to the Rules Club Wagga Wagga, The City Council of Wagga Wagga, Wellways, the Multicultural Council of Wagga Wagga, and the Soccer Clubs for support this very successful event. More and more young people are at risk of social isolation due to many factors. As a community, events such as the Intercultural Social Soccer is one way for us to support the young people and others to deal with hard experiences they/we may face. See you again soon!

Following in the sport-heroes’ footsteps: Emerging young talents from our community

Wagga – ‘the City of Good Sports’ legendary seems to be catching up with the recently arrived residents…… despite the extreme hot weather conditions on Saturday (11/1/17) then back to the other opposite extreme on Sunday, our young people were out to reinforcing the ‘wagga effect

-with Ano Matowe, Jacob Ochieng, Coach Prince and others leading the charge in pre-season soccer

-while in athletics, the Yongais, the Kurons, the Okerenyangs, the Langats, the Newah-Jarfois and many more were pushing boundaries in a bid to qualify for NSW state championships after posting impressive personal-best records during the zones competitions recently.
